How Much Does It Cost To File For Bankruptcy?
Most people who file for bankruptcy in Massachusetts don’t have a lot of money - if they did, chances are that they wouldn’t be looking to file for bankruptcy in the first place.
I know how difficult it is to make a decision to file for bankruptcy; worrying about bankruptcy legal fees shouldn’t make it harder.
Legal fees are set according to the complexity of your situation, not a cookie-cutter approach. If you have a simple case, your fee will be less than if you have a difficult one.
Court filing fees are $299.00 to file a Chapter 7 bankruptcy and $274.00 to file a Chapter 13 bankruptcy, whether for one person or a married couple, plus a pre-filing debt counseling program and a post-filing financial management program which each cost about $50. Our attorney fees will be set when we have the details of your situation.
Included in my attorney fees are the representation letters which I promptly send to your creditors to stop telephone harassment. Many of my clients start by paying a first installment for that service, with the final amounts due within four months.
